Hello! I have not been an inspired blogger lately. The flip side of this is that I have been a very inspired writer. These things seem to see-saw with one another. In light of this, instead of writing a blog post this week, I’m going to post a tiny fiction tidbit I found in an old free-write when I was doing some editing this week. Enjoy. :)
Somewhere that old witch was cackling with glee. Marlin stared glumly at the little melons, sitting perfectly round and only occasionally blemished in his untidy garden, growing cheerfully in the morning sun. Seven neat little cantaloupes on a vine, and not a single ladder to the giants’ lair. And here he was back at square one, quest-less, princess-less, and out a perfectly good dairy cow to boot. What was his mother going to say? What she always said, probably. Marlin, never trust a witch! But how was one suppose to find adventure these days if not from a witch?
“This bites,” he muttered.
“Tell me about it,” one of the melons replied. “I wanted to be a pea.”
